Day 11, Tuesday June 18 Castello di Serravalle / Castle

After starting the day with a great breakfast we headed to the studio to begin our Graffitos.  We spent time preparing our terra cotta tiles for the mortar that would be the "canvas" for our artwork.  While drying, Alma Ortolan took us on a tour to a nearby castle, Castello di Serravalle, to explore the architecture and rich history of Veneto.  Upon our return,we had homemade asparagus lasagna at our bed and breakfast, Palazzo Galletti. Mama Mia!  It was spectacular!  We continued working on our Graffito by transferring our patterns on to the mortar. When done we started "scratching" out our patterns.  Upon completion, we took a tour to the Grotto, which is a natural underground spring.  This place is a perfect blend of adventure and paradise. It reminded us of magical lands where hobbits could live. We explored the man enhanced caves and marveled at the waterfall! The road home was extremely skinny and curvy but offered fabulous views of the village below. There are homes and restaurants hidden amongst the forest all along the mountain side.  Veneto is a spectacular town to visit!
