Day 17, Monday June 24. Marvelous Murano

Today we started out heading to the famous island of Murano.  People come from all over the world to witness the master artists create their glass artwork.  Entering into the Museo del Vetro (museum of glass) we were met by artwork dating back to the first century A.D. to current modern glass art displays.  We saw amazing chandeliers and tiny cities made entirely from glass.  The displays showed step by step examples of how the glass art was/is created. Afterwards, we spent some time exploring the island and checking out the artists workshops.  We watched an artist painting gold on a vase that he had made out of glass earlier.  WOW!  Even some of the commodes were made of glass. When finished we took a convenient water bus to eat dinner in Venice before we leave tomorrow to Rome.  We will miss the Venice area but Rome will be magical!  More tomorrow....

  1. I love Venice! We also stayed on the island of Lido. If you get a chance visit Burano to see how they make lace! Travel safe. Looks like you are both having a great trip. Can't wait to see some of your artwork.
