Day 15, Saturday, June 22, Venice

We were sad to leave Eleonora and the Palazzo Galletti B&B but Alma (owner of Ortolan Studio) took us on an adventure that we will remember forever.  We loaded the car with our bags and set out to Venice. On the way, we had a great opportunity to see the countryside of northern Italy between Vittorio Venneto and Venice.  It was spectacular!  We stopped at the Castello di Conegliano (Castle of Conegliano) and spent some time exploring the architecture and landscape.  We talked about how it must have been in the daily life of the families who lived in and around the castle.  Alma said goodbye to us in Venice.  We got our tickets for the water bus (a large boat specifically  to carry passengers from one destination to another) and took the scenic route through the Grand Canal.  We were amazed by the beauty of Venice.  After about half an hour on the water bus we arrived at our hotel in Lido.  After checking in, we went to dinner and took a walk on the beach. We got to play in the water of the gulf of Italy. Mrs. Orendorff found some aggregate for our frescoes back at home, but it was too big for the plane ride. Mrs. Rounds said "we could bring it home if we had a cargo mule to carry it for us". It was a full moon and the air was blowing at the perfect temperature. What a treat! Tomorrow we will head to the museums!  Good Night From Venice, Italy!
Italy countryside!
